Muleshoe, Texas (June 14th, 2021) – Morris Sharp is settling in as the new Chief Nursing Officer at Muleshoe Area Medical Center. Morris comes to Muleshoe from Clovis, New Mexico where he graduated from the Clovis Community College nursing program in 2014. Continuing his education, Morris earned his master’s degree in Nurse Administration and Leadership from Chamberlain University.
Morris started his career in Clovis, helping patients with disabilities in a home setting, then moved to a hospital setting in 2014, working his way into a Nursing Supervisor role at PRMC in Clovis.
“I have always known I wanted to help people growing up so I was destined to work as a teacher or in the medical field,” says Morris. “While I was doing pre-med studies at Eastern New Mexico University I decided the right fit for me was nursing so I could have really meaningful interactions with people,” Morris continued.
The opportunity for Morris to work at Muleshoe Area Medical Center came up last year when he started to fill in on shifts as needed. Morris says, “I thought it would be a great opportunity to gain some more experience and really ended up falling in love with the atmosphere at MAMC. The small community atmosphere and the willingness of everyone to do what needs to be done to provide great patient care is amazing.”
Dennis Fleenor, Administrator at Muleshoe Area Medical Center states, “Morris will do great in Muleshoe, his past experience and focus on patient centered care will be great addition to our team, I know he will build on the great things being done here at Muleshoe Area Medical Center.”
Morris is enjoying his time at Muleshoe, “Everyone has been so wonderful and friendly, the community has been very inviting, and I enjoy the time I spend here,” he says.
Morris started his new position as CNO on May 10th.
